Space Applications

Space is the first domain in which CMCs have been used. There are basically three application domains :

  • Rocket propulsion, mainly Solid Rocket Motors (SRM)
  • Ionic propulsion
  • Atmospheric re-entry Thermal Protection Systems (TPS)
